First episode of KU’s “The Gridiron”

Our own “Hard Knocks.”

If you don’t like what’s happening with this program (attitude & your inclusion), I’m not sure how to help you. (Though “Dave and Busters” and Roy’s “Malibu Grand Prix” comparative mocking is encouraged.) Great job by KU’s Mike Lickert and his Rock Chalk Video team.

Update – I’m not sure who’s making these. I just figured it was the Athletic’s video group. But in the credits, they’re being produced/directed by former KU WR Micah Brown. (And fantastically narrated by Kevin Willmott.) I want to know more. Who’s doing this? Is it a KU Film School project? Brown was a Directing/Screenwriting grad for the school? Anyone know anything? Very cool.

Update #2 – I’m probably the only one who cares about this, but Brown’s Linkedin account lists him as “Creative Director” at KU Football. Impressive job so far.

I’m looking forward to watching these. I think they should talk to my friend Jimmy Caan about making a guess appearance.

    Hey there Chesty!

Was looking up articles on the show and wanted to let you know that I’m currently working for the athletic department full time doing these “cinematic pieces” such as The Gridiron. Thank you for your interest! Rock Chalk!

In all sincerity – nicely done. Awesome to see that KU film degree put to work. It’s been fun to follow this series. The fact that you’re a former football player and Jayhawk makes it that much cooler.

Not as cool as that Orange Bowl fake punt, though. THAT was cool.

Micah, I enjoy your work very much! It’s truly first-class stuff! You do a fantastic job.

On an unrelated note, my psychologist is moving away from town and it has me very depressed. My meds aren’t helping, I don’t want to go to any of the shrinks she’s referred me to, and I think she’s conspiring to hurt me emotionally. Would you be interested in making a documentary about this?

Also…Micah, is it ok that I’m Jewish?

Hey, we could have Micah listen to the podcast to get a feel for my performing talents (I’m the first lead).

Um, just please don’t get insulted by any of the humor. All the inappropriate jokes are John’s idea. Unless you like them. Then I get full credit in the writer’s room. I’m like Don Rickles — without the following, talent, timing, or originality.

Micah, I have this theory that women secretly communicate me with special transmitters. Can we talk about that in our documentary?

I’m a grown man who lives alone. This may not surprise you.

Hey Micah, I could talk about movies in the documentary. I read the New Yorker, and I just repeat everything I read in their well-written film reviews. So even though I don’t KNOW what I’m talking about, it sounds like I do.

Micah, I have a self-published (and crappy) young-adult novel available on Amazon and in the KU bookstore. Seriously. Here’s the link:

Would you be interested in optioning it? I’m asking for 25K…but I’m willing to settle…well, I’ll pay you. All I can really afford is to set up a craft services table, though.

Hey Micah, can we be friends on LinkedIn? Or are you already thinking of having a restraining order placed against me? It wouldn’t be the first time.

I’ve got a great concept for a feature film we can do, Micah. Think of the Academy-award winning “Chinatown”…except instead of a detective story in L.A., we feature two KU sorority girls on the hunt for the perfect bikinis for tanning season.

It will be very tastefully done. Art-house stuff.

Micah, I got 2 words for the star of our feature film. Are you ready for this? TED MCGINLEY!

Hey, if Jason Bateman can become a credible actor, then we can do the same for McGinley.

Also, I think we should be willing to screen test Todd Bridges for a supporting role.
