Sometimes I don’t exactly understand what I’m paying for

Case in point: couple weeks ago, we were in Colorado. Set it up so that we’d take a train ride with through the mountains with Gabe. He’s cuckoo over Thomas and loves seeing the trains go by in North Lawrence. Perfect, right?

Train day comes and the actual riding on a train? Entertains him for about 25 seconds.

Luckily, there was an open air car at the rear of the train so he and his buddy, Brett, could run around and have fun.

That’s right – $45 for a train ride and Gabe spent an hour working on his “Flashdance” routine. I’m troubled enough by the natural pole dancing abilities, but to actual pay for that? Next year, we’re staying home. He can play on the stripper pole in his room.

You definitely need to take Gabe to the Day Out With Thomas in Baldwin if you have a chance. Those Thomas cartoons are just so bad though. We did the whole buy every train we could get and then they switched types, so we were stuck with all of the Old Style trains. But is fun watching your kid getting excited about something for the first time.

Then it went to Dinosaurs, then Power Rangers, then Ben 10, then Transformers, then Bakugan and lately…Mario. He’s kind of gone backwards, but I guess its the Wii influence.

Hayden is never playing in Gabe’s room again. Until Mommy needs a sitter FAST!

Or, tell Stacey to put her ‘re-living her youth’ relics somewhere else.

We took him on that Thomas the Rip Off Train ride this year. $18 bucks a person to go 5 miles an hour for one mile backwards and then 5 miles an hour for one mile forwards. He was actually more interested in the petting zoo. I don’t need to addict him to any merchandising. No thanks. I already made John take down the Justin Bieber poster.
